Statement on Operation Iraqi Freedom
First, I want to congratulate the Iraqi people on their liberation from the
oppressive dictatorship of Saddam Hussein and the brave women and men of the
coalition forces whose hard work and sacrifice made it possible.
Second, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to those families who
lost loved ones in this very important cause.
Third, I want to make it clear that, although I have some concerns about how
the war developed, I support our armed forces 100%. Without them, the United
States of America wouldn't exist and we wouldn't have the freedoms and way of life
I now hope the Iraq people will be able to experience and cherish. I have, in
the past, been critical and ridiculed George W. Bush and his administration as
expressed in my parody series for the Democratic Underground. I still do not
agree with a number of the Bush administration's policies and general attitude,
as it is my right as an American to do so. However, in the end, I believe the
the removal of Saddam Hussein from power was the right thing to do. My only
wish is that it had been accomplished with the sanction of the United Nations.
